Agg. It's been cloudy up here in Boston, and at 4PM, pitch black. I don't get depressed, but do feel down, unproductive, and feel like life sucks.
I hate this.

Guess I'm an oddball...I love the earlier darkness (live in Wisconsin). I feel so much more energized at night than during the daytime...
Go figure...

You think that's bad, try no sunlight and PILES of snow.... I wake up usually around 8am... the sun comes up around 10am now... the Sun will stay up in the sky till about 2 and then slowly start to descend till about 4 when it's as dark as night out.Add to this the fact that I live in Ottawa, Ontario, and we have LOTS of snow at the moment...
This whole "time off" thing is a great way to help improve my mental health without stressing me out needlessly, but when you spend as much time at home as I do currently, God... You ever see that movie "The Shining" with Jack Nicholson? I'm starting to get Cabin Fever....

>I have always found some relief from nuclear winter by watching fireplace flames and checking out the stars and moon outside. "Suit up" and hike in the snow at night (with no wind) with a full field of stars-it is great.

I do go for walks almost every night with my 2 dogs, but there isn't exactly this huge field or many stars overhead around here. This is strictly "city living". The stars that are up there are blacked out mostly by smog and stuff. I find it refreshing to get suited up and go out for long walks in the cold though.I do miss the Summertime though, where I could just sit out back by the pool all day and do nothing and actually enjoy it lol...

Ottawa? I lived there for a couple of years & while it gets lots of snow, the latitude is 45°24'. Sunrise on the weather office web site says 7:33 AM & sunset at 4:21 PM for Ottawa. I live near Vancouver & ours is 49°10' & sunrise & sunset is 7:55 AM & 4:13 PM but I wouldn't say it gets light as late as 10. I know it may feel like it but try living here in the lovely lower mainland of Vancouver area. Reminds me of the English nursery rhyme - "Oh lovely Devon! Where it rains eight days out of seven." At least we don't get snow. The only snow I want to see is on mountain tops.

I ordered a North Face MET 5 jacket in early August. It's coming in late January. $500, but they're charging $375 for the delay. Very hard to find.
Anyway, no heavier than typical fleece, but has little fibers 1/5 thickness of a hair wired throughout to provide heat. 5 hrs. NiMH battery, goes from 105 F to 115 F (2 modes).
This is the end of the thread.
