Sorry, Tina, this could've been a very funny thread but I've been busy lately.
A brother-in-law, when young,used to sing Home On The Range with "where the deer & the ants go to play..."
I seem to have trouble discerning words in many songs & if I don't have them printed out, give some pretty weird interpretations to songs I sing. But I don't do screwed up quotes so much as lots of spoonerisms or switch nouns about when I speak.

Wow, Isom, you are another one, I thought it was just me??
I went into a bike store to ask where the Yakima Rack accessories were, and it came out, "where can I find the Rackima Yack accessories...."
I didn't realize what I had said, until he said it back to me with the warmest smile on his face...
Maybe it was because he had never had a mouse come in and ask for Yakima Rack supplies...

Here's a sample...
My friend used to think that the line in Alanis Morrisette's "ironic" said "it's like a death-row hard-on, two minutes too late". When told her it was actually "death-row pardon" the line made a lot more sense, but now I can't think of that line any other wayChristina
~~~~~~~~~Unfortunately, I can't remember any of my silly lines, although I know there have been many!
There is one I've heard of, I don't remember where from. But has anybody heard of Madonna getting in trouble at 'Poppadum Beach"? :)
David Letterman brought this up once about Michael Jackson's chorus in "Billy Jean". I really don't know what he is saying there! Also, there is some song that goes something like this: "There ain't nothing going to break my stride, there ain't nothing going to slow me down, oh no, I've got to keep on moving..." Well, for quite some time it really sounded like: "There ain't nothing going to break my *spine*,.... :)
Its from a religious song "Gladly the cross I'd bear"
I thought it was about a stuffed bear named Gladly (when I was a kid)
I'm not the only one though, I also read about another now-adult thinking the same thing..
The Madonna messed up quote is from "Papa Don't Preach". I am not sure which album... Have a great day! Mal
I think that would make a great children's book! I can even picture the little cross-eyed bear.
I think I was still a teenager, but it took me quite a while to realize that people were talking about alzheimer's disease, not something called
"old-timer's disease".Shelli
That's funny, Shelli, as my Mom still keeps calling it that even when I've shown her how it's spelled & pronounced. I suppose at her age, she's not going to change. Oh well, she knows I have 2 girl cats but still calls them he's too. She watches an English soap drama called Coronation Street but calls that Carnation Street. She's full of these mispronounced or misunderstood names. It's pretty funny, but I make certain not to bother her about it - it would only make it seem like I was laughing at her & I'm not.
In 6th grade, my daughter used to joke about a boy in her class who called it "old timers disease." I thought it was an understandable mistake for a kid to make.
This time of year, I always remember my three year old sister singing "Hark...Angels Sing" When you get to the line about "joyful all you nations rise" my sister always sang "joyful all the TRAINING PANTS rise". My other sisterjust 16 months younger than I was, always felt that "Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer was going down to get the wreath (rather than "down in history)".
