Today's New York Times has an article reporting that drug research is increasingly being done not by academic researchers but by companies that are owned by advertising agencies. They also ghost-write articles for scientific journals. Read the article:

That was an excellent article. I hope that every PB poster will read it and understand how pharmaceutical marketing masquerades as "science." It is particularly important for PB members to read it, now that pharmaceutical company representatives have infiltrated Psychobabble as part of their direct-to-consumer advertising campaign.

I read the article and think it bears reading by everyone. Why not post it on the meds board, too? The parts about Lexapro's advertising were very interesting, and several people on this board are taking it...
