Halloween Eve, I'm as excited as a 6-yr-old

Posted by Ç®ëëþý Tabitha on October 31, 2002, at 0:23:03

Boos and rattling chains to all of you!

I'm dressing up tomorrow with my black cape (made it myself), long black wig with white stripes, ghoulish yet glittery makeup, slave collar, black dress, red and white striped tights, red glitter nail polish, and black feathered bag. Don't ask me what I am, because I don't know. My house is decorated with pumpkin light strand, giant skull, hanging scream figure, giant spiders, bats, and black light. I've got a horror sounds CD and 3 bags of candy for the tots. I love Halloween. It's the only truly fun holiday. The others are all about obligitory family visits and pious sentiments. Halloween is pure fun.

...and the low cost clinic I go to for these services (liver panel, cbc, etc.) told me that they wouldn't give me an appt. unless I promised to wear a costume.

I of course asked if they were kidding---and of course they were---but damnit if I'm not gonna do something.

I've got green doc marten boots, green thick tights, a green long sleeve stretchy dress about knee length and I'll paint the ol' nails green in a few moments to top it all off. Then I'll print out large letters "N" and "V" and pin them to the front and back of my dress.

What am I?

Green with envy.

groans allowed

Happy spooks day to you Creepy Tabitha I'm happy that you're excited. Have fun. Be infectious with your excitement and enthusiasm.

Ooh. That sounds like such fun. And I'm sitting here wishing I could be as excited as my six year old. It's his favorite holiday in the world.

Congratulations on holding on to that spirit of fun.

It's the perfect day for a blood test. Let's hope all the plebologists (sp?) are dressed as vampires. Or giant mosquitoes. Leeches. Or... ?

Your costume is really a groaner! But so clever. Have fun being green.

I feel like a 6 year old but not excited...
Halloween here ain't so big and I definately wouldn't open my door to kids : )
I just dreamt I was on a train full of vampires and I wanted to get off but kept tripping over the long capes also my teeth grew..so i guess I'm subconsciously in the spirit of it...

I wanted to send a costume message to send Halloween wishes to all but since I signed it guess who it appears to have been deleted.

Anyway, I am "the graveyard smash!"

You were supposed to guess who wished you "Happy Halloween".

By the way... have you heard about the safe house being set up in North London.. its being set up by a couple to provide short term safety when people are suicidal... it looks really good.

My dear heaven there were a ton of kiddies. From the moment I pulled in the driveway I was besieged. Went thru about 300 pieces of candy in an hour and a half. Now I'm in here hiding in the dark. Those kids are aggressive, I swear some were coming back 2 or 3 times. I'm pooped!

That's a good idea..any improvement on the crisis line is good : )
Here there are drop in centres if ones in a panic in the street..
This time I have a competent doc..but I had to move to a different area to get him

Isn't it a nigtmare over here in that you can't just change docs, you have to move to change them!!! I hate my pdoc at the moment but its either him or his boss, and his boss is even worse (was a real bastard to me when I was in hospital!)

Theres a couple of Mental health drop in centers around here, but nothing for crisis intervention. We do have a 24 hour emeergency psych dept too with a phone number, but everytime i've called, cos I haven't been at my most understandbale, they've told me I;m not an emergency!!!! ie, they're shite!!!

I really like the idea of somewhere proving a few days safety when you feel in danger from yourself.

but, as some dick said to me the other day -"if you're seeking help, you're not really serius and just wasting theit time"!!!!!!!!!!!

pdocs are like golddust..
If I feel suicidal I just ask for sedatives to sleep..no one can help me in that state...I'd rather curl up in bed like a zombie till it passes.
If docs listened to me when I was 16 I probably would be OK now
such is life...

take care

I know... I know.. I took my forst OD at 14 and was cutting msyelf, but it was ut down to teenage angst and ignored!!!
the worst thing is, when i finally opened up and told my brother about my problem (only a year ago and I'm 27 now!) it turns out he'd been under psychiatric care from the age of 4 - so why my mother chose to ignore me and tell the docs I was fine is beyind me!!!

I've heard very good reports about this place though.. and is open to all London people...

"HIGHBURY GROVE (Islington, London)
Address: Highbury Grove, 18 Highbury Grove, Islington, London N5 2EA
24 hour staffing Crisis
Night drop in crisis centre open from 8pm - 6am.
Self refer or referral by CMHT
Beds open to those at risk of hospital admission / planned respite
Assessment upon entry & multi disciplinary support arranged upon leaving
Maximum stay on 3 weeks; users are offered up to 6 once/weekly sessions after leaving."

Just to have someone there willing to talk to me, or just to stroke my hair would be have been great in some of my crisis... We need more "no pressure" places like this in my opinion.

Sorry - my current obsession!!!

Nikki x
