What tangled webs......

Posted by paxvox on July 16, 2002, at 20:11:16

Oh, how I miss the "old" days, when there was some excellent info and feedback. Now we have "driven off" Cam W. and Kat and a bunch of others who really had some great information to convey. Then there are others that have become "lurkers" either out of fear of being bumped because they express some NPC thoughts, or have just become bored with the dribble. there has to be a bit more "margin of error" in expression W/O it being taken as uncivility. Dr. Bob, how far do you want this to deteriorate?
There has to be some better allowance for peer "checks and balances" or there will cease to exist any viable forum here.

Obviously I don't know you, so I don't know if you have other contact with Kat, Cam, and the others who were driven off by the "drivel"
Is that definately why they are no longer posting?

I share your opinion regarding the "margin of error" As for the quality of content on this particular board how do you personally quantify that? An honest question. I use the boards with more definition for information and feedback.
I was and perhaps am mistaken in my thinking that a social board would embrace all aspects of what comprises social interaction, which is not definative as far as I know.
All my outside personal relationships are with Doctors, Social workers Psychiatrists, and I find it soul-sucking frustrating, and desperately lonely.

Being able to laugh at what someone might consider "silly" or drivel: particulary because I'm aware that the person responding is battling similar demons has twice brought me back from the trigger of a deep depression. (diagnosed Major Depression, not a "bad day")
I didn't believe that was possible before.
Obviously I'm not the only one who matters though so if I've missed your point entirely please do correct me.
Gabbi

paxvox,
Could you tell me what you mean by "dribble" If you define that , then I will be better able to understand your post.
Thanks,
Lou

While I am a firm believer in the therapeutic value of the sort of inspired silliness on PSB right now, I realize it isn't for everyone.

We all miss Cam and Kat, and akc, and isoM, and many others. I often find myself thinking of akc.

I remember reading lately in your posts that you have been having a rough time. Is there anything we can do to help? Because support, in whatever form it takes, is what Social is here for.

I'm of no use talking about neurotransmitters, but I know there's still a lot of neurotransmitter talk on the med board. And I love talking therapy and have more than a passing knowledge of it, if you have any interest in conversing on Psycho-Psycho Babble. And I adore talking theology, although perhaps my views are a bit unorthodox for you to enjoy chatting with me on PB Faith. But there are a lot of intelligent people here, and I'm sure that whatever topic you would like to have a substantive conversation on, there is quite possibly someone here who would be happy to oblige. Just start a thread.

Wishing you peace and joy....

Dinah

Don't know what you mean-- isn't Dr Bob's research about Internet communities? It has to be more than just trading information to make a community. There's so much fun and playfulness here lately, and concern for each other. That's not "dribble" at all. That's the stuff of life.

Could you clarify what you're talking about? (nm) » paxvox

Discussion about the margin of error should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration:

But posts of a supportive nature are still welcome here...
