Iso--sunny and warm and perfect.

It's a secret my husband would rather I not share, but I will anyway. We only fly in to Vegas; we don't stay for a moment longer than it takes to grab our bags. Our destination is Zion Canyon, Utah (with a stop in the Grand Titans, maybe). It is the most beautiful place on the planet. And although it is hot, we do our camping at high altitudes, where it's about 55 by sleep time. It's quiet and restful and lovely, and the hiking is magnificent. All those 4x4 commercials are filmed there because it is so beautiful.

And I can't even find the words for Lake Powell. But you couldn't find a better place to take a swim, get a tan, and read a book in peace and quiet.

But hey--as hubby says, go to Disney World and the beach. Leave our glorious national parks alone! (I don't feel that way, but he'd prefer the solitude.)

It does sound beautiful. I've read Louie L'amour's books where he waxes on about the Grand Tetons (it's Tetons, not Titans, isn't it?).

Where I live, the wilds are only a stone's throw away - large Douglas firs, ferns, wild bleeding hearts, native rhododedrons, trilliums, vine maples, etc with moss covering many places. I love it! I go out of my way to cultivate native plants, mainly heritage plants. You'd love it here too.

In a way, I agree with your husband. I wish these magnificent wilds wouldn't get so overun by tourists. Too much & it's disrupting to the parks & wildlife. Like whale-watching - it's really getting out of hand lately.

I have been doing this too quickly these days. Too busy.
