Beardy: per your request ... here ya go:

Over on PBA you thoughtfully asked me to come over here and tell you if 1) I was able to meditate? 2) Exercise? 3) Take B vitamins?

Well, you're, um, going to be disappointed (as am I) ... cuz basically the answers are 1) I'm not sure (see details below), 2) not really and 3) only as part of my multiple vitamins (I need to ask someone to go to the store for me and get me a bottle of B vitamins).

Beardy, I'm in BAAAAAAAAD shape. :-(

More details: I've been practicing some deep breathing and perhaps meditating if concentrating on one calm, relaxing type of activity and managing to focus on it to the point where my mind does NOT race or think of anything else can be considered a form of meditation? I have been able to do this and I mention and ask about it because I remember you had said that IsoM's focusing on watching the birds in her feeder could be considered a form of meditation?

I'm just coming out of a medicine-induced deep depression (I was all but comatose for quite some time), so exercise has been impossible. However, I had been walking again. Unfortunately, it has gotten uncomfortably hot and very dry out which makes walking during the day problematic (and I'm staying in an area where there are night creatures roaming around so one does NOT walk at night in the dark)

Thanks for your thoughtfulness, interest and concern! Means a lot. :-)

We have night creatures here, too. I'm in Baltimore city. Where are you?

I hope you have found a better med and are coming out of it. Focusing on just one thing is just as good as meditating. It gets the job done. Good luck.

Gee, what kind of night creatures are there in Baltimore? (I used to live back east - in NYC area).

I'm now in the desert southwest - snakes, coyotes, they're out and about at night and right now I'm living in the boonies where these creatures seem to abound.

Have yet to find a better mood stabilizer, in fact, I may not even go that route, but try to augment the AD I'm on with some other type of med, pending visit to docs.

Thanks for confirming that focusing on just one thing is just as good as meditating since the more *official* form of meditating is still a challenge I have yet to conquer!

Neat-o. Except for the rattlesnakes. Had to deal with them all summer on ranch in Northern Calif. Bummer.

Weren't you going to try Lamictal, Janelle? Catch me up.

Zo

Hi Zo,

Gosh, I'm impressed that you remembered I was going to try Lamictal - that was a LONG time ago (or at least it feels that way).

Yep, I tried it, but didn't last long or get to a high dose on it because severe anxiety set in, real bad. I even posted about it on PB and others echoed the same problem with Lamictal!

Janelle,
I could have even been in on that thread, for all I know (!) but my experience is that Lamictal is not known, itself, for causing anxiety, but that this side effect can arise from increasing too fast.

Best,
Zo
