I finally decided to try the chat feature. Nothing happens. Every time I try, a pop-up box asks if I want to d/l Yahoo Audio Conferencing. When I click on 'No' I get a chat that shows absolutely nothing. Maybe it's to do with my fire-walls & such? I e-mailed Yahoo some questions but haven't had a response yet.

We're there now (I'm ashamed to admit since it's so late) so please try again. I got the blank chat screen too about 4 times before I finally got in tonight. If you don't see 2 separate boxes, one labeled Chat and one labeled Chatters, or you don't see your own name in the chatters list, just select Chat again. You may also be forced to download the audio component. I believe that I needed to do that in the beginning even tho I don't use it.

Thanks for answering, Jane. I came back to my computer as I have a headache & am having trouble sleeping.
Did some more checking around & found that I can't use the Java feature as I'm behind a fire-wall. That was the reason alright. Tomorrow, I'll ask my son if it can be configured to enable me to use chat even with a fire-wall. Otherwise, I guess chat is out for me. We won't drop the fire-walls we have. There may be a way because we used to d/l mp3s & other were able to upload them with Napster, fire-wall or not.
Oh well, I'd rather sacrifice some extras for internet security - there's just too many computer vandals out there now.

Usually you can poke holes in a firewall, open the port you want to use. . and then close it again, if necessary.
