Hi trouble,
I posted this earlier today and it never showed up...
How long have you been writing? Have you gone to college? Are you working on short stories or a novel? Do you keep a journal? You're a huge talent. I often want to save your posts because they are so deep and wonderful. Excuse me if I'm being pushy in wanting to know all about you. But I take interest in what makes artists tick and why they do what they do and if they realize they have talent and how their "illness" affects their art...etc, etc....and you are so, so good. Do you have professional aspirations?

Oh Sarah, your responses have been so meaningful to me. Especially since they come from someone in the arts herself.
Basically, I've self-published a few things, one of which ended up in the cirricuulum at Stanford University, which I didn't believe myself til I started getting dozens of letters from the students.
And the woman who wrote the biography of Anne Sexton told someone she admired one of my publications. Overall I've received enough encouragement to go forward w/ my dreams but something is holding me back, and I don't know what, but I think my participation in this community may give me the shot of confidence I need.
Every year I vow that I will get an agent, do more readings, start a novel, etc, etc. And no follow-through. I'd love to be a novelist, but believe if anything I'm more of a stylist. Big deal, Hemingway was both.As for college I've had 2 years of community college in social work/psychology, but my heart wants to study creative writing. The university I'm looking at says I can get an undergrad degree in writing, then do psychology in grad school, and that sounds like the solution to the problem. and still, something's holding me back.
That's why I haven't responded to your earlier inquiries, this shame and befuddlement regarding my stuckness, when I've received more encouragement than anyone should ever need to kick them in the butt. But there you have it.thanks for your interest, trouble

There's always that "something" that holds us back to a certain extent. What are we afraid of? Of becoming a success and everyone finding out we're loony? (well, maybe that's MY bag...) Your stuff is amazing. Do you live in a city or a smaller town?
