Although I think "Catcher in the Rye" pales in comparison to "Franny and Zooey" or some of his earlier work, I love this part.

It's been years, but I still remember. I remember your face, that stupid laugh, those words you said to me that you wished you could take back. You wanted me to care so much; you knew I couldn't. You pretended you were in love with yourself; you thought no-one could ever love you. You were wrong... I didn't realise it at the time; how could I? I saw you in the store, our eyes met but you ignored my "Hello" and walked away. And I'm sorry for the letter I sent. You affected me like you never could before. I love you so much I wish you were dead.
