Rock-n-Roll anthem

Posted by trouble on February 26, 2002, at 1:30:49

Hey.

After this weekend's free-for-all I didn't go
to therapy today, just to give myself the appearance that I can take it or leave it.

Instead I spent 2 and a half hours listening to the same anthemic song over and over, which I'll quote here, though lyrics w/out music can be so lame, and the song rocks royally but it's just too good to keep to myself.

We Are The Underneath

WE are the underneath
We fit inside a two words
No credit cards for us
No plastic and no mobiles
If you can't sell me something
Then how can you respect me?
If you can't sell me something
We might as well not be
WE practice but we don't know
WE practice but we don't know

Eat sausages and yams
Read papers w/ the words on
I know just who I am
The one you drew the birds on
The birds begin to fly
And suddenly I'm naked
I'm up there in the sky
Don't know if I can make it
We practice but we don't know
We practice but we don't know
We practice but we don't know
We practice but we don't know

We are the underneath
Not popular or local
So silently we tread
So you can do your vocal
We're what's left when you take away everything
We're what's left when you take away everything
We're what's left when you take away everything else

When everything has gone
We're all that is remaining
And deep into my heart
Forever will be raining
If you can't sell me something
Then how can you respect me?
If you can't sell me something
We might as well not be

We practice but we don't know
We practice but we don't know
We practice but we don't know
We practice but we don't know

We are the underneath

it's gotten kinda pop, but I have been listening to it over and over. the song is my gateway to forming thoughts about the depression. I can't get out of my car until the song ends. . .

"outside" -Staind

and you bring me to my knees
all this time that i
all the times that i felt insecure
and i leave my burdens at the door

i'm on the outside
i'm looking in
i can see through you
see your true colors
inside you're ugly
ugly like me
i can see through you
see to the real you

all this time that i felt like this won't end
was for you
and i taste what i could never have
it's from you
all those times that i tried
my intentions
full of pride
and i waste more time than anyone

i'm on the outside
i'm looking in
i can see through you
see your true colors
cause inside you're ugly
ugly like me
i can see through you
see to the real you

all the times that i cried
all this wasting
it's all inside
and i feel all this pain
stuffed it down
it's back again
and i lie here in bed
all alone
i can't help what i feel
tomorrow will be okay

i'm on the outside
i'm looking in
i can see through you
see your true colors
inside you're ugly
ugly like me
i can see through you
see to the real you

this is my ab fav song in the world...just wanted to share the awsomeness!

I'm finding my way back to sanity again
Though I don't really know what i'm gonna do when i get there
I take a breath and hold on tight
Spin around one more time
And gracefully fall back to the arms of grace

Cause I am hanging on every word you're saying
Even if you don't wanna speak tonight
That's alright, alright with me
Cause I want nothing more than to sit outside heaven's door
And listen to you breathing
Its where i wanna be, yeah
Where I wanna be

I'm looking past the shadows in my mind into the truth
And i'm trying to identify the voices in my head
God wish won't you
Let me feel one more time what if feels like to feel
And break these caluses off me one more time

Cause I am hanging on every word you're saying
Even if you don't wanna speak tonight
That's alright, alright with me
Cause I want nothing more than to sit outside of your door
And listen to you breathing
Its where I wanna be, yeah

Oh i don't want a thing from you
Bet you're tired of me waiting for
The scraps to fall off of your table to the ground
La da da da...
Cause i just wanna be here now

Cause I am hanging on every word you're saying
Even if you don't wanna speak tonight
That's alright, alright with me
Cause I want nothing more than to sit outside heaven's door
And listen to you breathing
Its where i wanna be, yeah
Where I wanna be

Cause I am hanging on every word you're saying
Even if you don't wanna speak tonight
That's alright, alright with me
Cause I want nothing more than to sit outside heaven's door
And listen to you breathing
Its where i wanna be, yeah
Where I wanna be

i'll add a favourite in the same vein, Hitchcock's old band The Soft Boys, "I wanna destroy you"

I wanna destroy you
I wanna destroy you
I wanna destroy you
I wanna destroy you

I feel it coming on again
Just like it did before
They feed your pride with boredom
And they lead you on to war

The way you treat each other
Really makes me feel ill
Cause if you want to fight
Then you're just dying to get killed

I wanna destroy you
I wanna destroy you

A pox upon the media
And everything you read
They tell you your opinions
And they're very good indeed

I wanna destroy you

And when I have destroyed you
I'll come picking at your bone
And you won't have a single atom left
To call your own

I wanna destroy you
I wanna destroy you
Wanna destroy you
Wanna destroy you
Wanna destroy you
