Lucinda Basset program - any experiences?

Posted by irishcatholic on July 31, 2001, at 15:58:56

I would like to hear any positive or negative stories on the Lucinda Basset series of tapes and workbooks. It a rather expensive ($300+) but a small price to pay if really good stuff.
Thanks

Excellent. It cured my son's panic attacks. I used it myself for anxiety and depression, very good, gave me all the coping skills I'll ever need. I also convinced my friend to go through the process and accompanied her (she had two suicide attempts and survived cancer, war, and emigration without ever having been attended by anyone psychologically minded). She sprang back to life after that.

After it CBT with therapists was not interesting at all, not only they had nothing new to add to it, they were not offering even half of what this program covers... make sure not to be alone as you go through it; have some support available, someone with whom to discuss your thoughts, feelings, and progress (my husband helped me). Of course, they provide support by phone, but it would be or might be expensive.

you might also call them and ask them whether they have any of their associates working in your town (therapists trained in their center). Then you can either go through this program with this therapist (and probably be covered by some insurance), or at least buy cheaper from them than using mail order. I got my package at a bargain price because Lucinda happened to be in town two days after I decided I should buy it but couldn't force myself to spend so much.

hope this helps

mila
P.S. someone once posted here a link to the board where this program was discussed (all the pros and contras, wide range of opinions), but I do not remember the link.

Thanks so much. It sounds positive.
I'm not too worried about the cost - definitely sounds worth a try.
