Posted by Sunnely on September 23, 2000, at 1:25:15

Be back for the answer in a couple of days.

Sunnely,

In the possibility that you meant 400 years instead of 4000 years the answer is as follows:

The year 1691 can be rotated upside down to become 1961. Am I right?

Greg,

The riddle was correctly stated.

Answer: A man had a clue about what a woman was really saying =^)

Sunnely - Just a query. If this event happened in the latter half of the 20th century, how can it "happen again only for the first time" after 4000 years? - Cam

Cam,

Sorry if the riddle is not clear. Let me clarify it as follows:

An event that happened in the latter half (or second half) of the 20th century will happen again in 4000 years. What was it?

My guess is something astronomical/astrological. Like the harmonic convergence, the age of aquarius (when the moon is in the second house, and mercury aligns with mars....), etc.

Phil,

Sorry, the riddle contains no "sublimable, subliminable, sub..., well, you-know-what-I-mean" message. :)

I'm really beginning to feel like this is one of those "How do you keep a moron in suspense" riddles...

Your answer has to do with time and/or date as they are the only things that can be pridicted to hapeen with any degree of certainty over that large a period of time.

The year 1961 and 6009. Both are read the same upside down.

Greg was on the right track. However, 1691 happened in the 17th century and not 20th century.

cute.

So, I guess it happened a few times in the first and second thousand years ad, and will happen a few times in the 6000's and then again in the 8000's and in the 9000's, and the 10,000's. (If they are still using the same way of writing the numbers then).
BTW, who thinks of this stuff?
