Later... a non-med issue

Posted by harry b. on August 14, 2000, at 7:05:16

Good move Doc Bob, this might be interesting.

I said I was outta here, guess I am like a bad penny.

Some of you have mailed privately asking who, what,
when, where, why, how. I appreciate your concern.

I'll try to be brief.

First- It has NOTHING to do with the meet in DC.
I feel I've got to emphasize that because some of you
have asked. The get together was fine & enjoyable, wish
we had had more time together. Doc Bob is a good, regular,
unpretentious, intelligent, not _too_ geeky, guy. The
other PB attendees are good folk too.

Second- I've lost interest in the meds issues for now,
have quit ADs, stopped therapy, and haven't been
following the posts or threads with much enthusiasim.

I've had all the clinical/chemical facts, fictions,
and theories I can absorb this year. Learned a lot
thanks to some good kind knowledgable people and all
the personal experiences that have been shared, and am
sincerely appreciative of your time & willingness to
be there and offer succor to the members of this
community. You are a terrific group of people.

This side board has an appeal, would not be posting
this on the main board.

Third- I'm down, don't care too much about anything
now.

Which dead existentialist said we've got to live
as if it matters??

DO WE? WHY? Please don't reply, I'm not up to philosophical
debates.

Fourth- Trust. Trust is THE HUGE issue for me. If a person
offers friendship & give/take support off the board and
then seemingly reneges on it, well, old hb's willingness
to be open & to trust becomes again jaded, the boundaries
are redrawn, & hb goes back into semi-paranoia loner mode.
Trust no one. Sad, huh?

(a personal aside: It was to be give & take. If there was/is
a problem, then COMMUNICATE. COMMUNICATION is the key
to building/maintaining a friendship. 'Bizzy', tho I know
U R, does not cut it. Sensitive issue. Enough said.
Otherwise, F it.)

Not a blanket dismissal, you have all been very kind
& supportive when I needed you, thank you very much
& thank you Doc Bob. Maybe one day I can return the
same support, but no more off-the-net contacts for now
(except my sailing bud).

Take good care you all, I'll be around sometimes, especially
if this particular board takes off. Be careful on this
one tho, it has enormous potential but 'psychosocial concerns'
encompass a vast territory. 'Civility' may easily be stretched.

My Best
hb

Hi Harry, I'm so glad to have checked this new area & see that you've posted. Whew; I was concerned. I feel like I want to let people on the main PB board know you're here, but I'm not sure if you would want me to do that?? Alot of people were wondering.

Do take care. Thinkin' of ya'. Kath

hb,
I am so glad that you wrote. I really sort of freaked out at your message (I am anxious in general these days, so I'm sure that was part of it).

Please consider this post a message of support to you in whatever path you choose (to AD or not AD, etc.). If you return and post again, you will be most welcome!

Shar

HB,

Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit hurt and off. I know that territory well, myself. Good luck to you on whatever paths you find yourself meandering.

Sante!

Hey Harry.... I'm new to all of this and want to say thank you because you have reconfirmed in my mind one of the lessons that I pulled from the past year... the worst of my life... and that was...

> If there was/is a problem, then COMMUNICATE. COMMUNICATION is the key to building/maintaining a friendship.

If more people practiced "Say what you mean and mean what you say." Maybe the world wouldn't be in better shape... but I would! Thanks for reminding me of that!

Brian
