The new T I am seeing rents "space" from a psychiatrist. She rents a room in his suite but it seems most of the patients she sees see the psychiatrist and vice versa because it is an extremely busy practice and I hear the people talking in the waiting room. The other night, early evening I was waiting to see the T and this young woman came out of the psychiatrist part of the suite and somehow we started talking and she said she had just seen Dr. so and so and that "he always wants to see me as his last patient". I asked her "what time was your appointment?" because it was about 5:30pm and I saw the psychiatrist leave for the night and she said "2:30". I know people wait to see this man and I have read in reviews about him online some wait up to 4 hours. I would never wait that long but what creeped me out was the "he always want to see me as his last patient". When I asked her why she said, "I used to work in the insurance industry and I used to work for a doctor so we have alot to talk about". She then went on to say she had been seeing him for about 19 years and the same for the T. Not to sound paranoid but I looked at the psychiatrist as he was walking out to see if he looked like he had just been in a rendevous and he didn't and she didn't either really. No messed up hair or look of "satisfaction" per se. But my guess is that maybe she is the one who wants to see him last in the day so she can talk to him as long as she wants. He is kind of like that. Doesn't stick to a strict schedule. I can't imagine him "always wanting to see her last" simply because she used to work for an insurance company and for a doctor. I don't know, I could be wrong but just wanted to get this off my chest. It creeped me out. Thanks for listening.

I just realized this may have been posted in the wrong category. I would move it if I could to the social forum becuase I think it belongs there, where you can just talk. This doesn't have a problem or question about therapy. It is just idle chatter about something I found "interesting" or noticed in a doctor's office.

I'm just impressed that you spoke to a fellow client! I met someone I knew once at a pdoc's office, and we caught up a bit. And I once started playing with the child of a fellow client at the clinic where my therapist used to work, which led to a bit of conversation with his mother.
But mostly I pretend they aren't there, and they pretend I'm not there.
It sounds a bit strange, but it's hard to know the truth of what goes on in someone else's therapy/appointments. I can't really imagine wanting to spend more than a minute or two with my psychiatrist.

If you saw this waiting room you would see how easy it is to talk to people. It is very strange I will admit.
