Let me start this by stating I am not judging you or labeling you AND I could be completely wrong in my observations.

I would consider transference IF you and Dr. Bob were in a therapeudic situation but given I don't see that, I believe it's more a fixation. Fixations are usually bore out of an anxiety problem. Something that quells feelings of anxiety because one's attention is overrun by thoughts of the object of the fixation. Anxiety may not be the only reason, some personality types and disorders led themselves to fixations as a coping mechanisms.

I find your keen interest in Dr. Bob interesting and I hope you don't take offense at that or what I've written above. Offense is not intended.

I do that too. I call them "enthusiasms". They're a powerful tool in my kit of self soothing mechanisms.

I don't take offense at all. :-)

That actually makes a lot of sense. I know it is a coping mechanism of some sort. I'm glad you find it interesting. :)

When the fixation is another person, it can get tricky BUT so long as it's not harmful or hurtful to either party, I don't believe it to be THAT big a thing. From what you've stated you keep boundaries and are realistic about expectations. It doesn't appear to interfere with your functioning. I do get the impression you would like more interaction(s) but I think you are aware of the limits and are respectful of those limits.

A question I have - of which you aren't oblidged to answer btw - is What is your preception of how Dr. Bob feels about your interest? I know he can only speak for himself, but what do you think?

I am glad you aren't offended.

I don't think Dr. Bob minds my fixation. I asked him in person in Toronto 2006. I asked him if he minded that I love him and he said, "It's fine".

Then there was the time that someone wrote that Dr. Bob was creeped out and annoyed by me. I wrote about it on the boards and Dr. Bob replied, "Why would I feel annoyed or creeped out? Love is a gift".

So I think Dr. Bob feel OK with my fixation on him. He doesn't mind.

That sounds good, Deneb. So long as you keep it in perspective, all should be fine, don't you think?

Thanks for answering, btw.

I used to have a fixation with any psychiatrist but not anymore. The field was so appealing to me, I wanted to know anything and everything a psychiatrist knew.
