does your T mirror you?

Posted by tetrix on October 31, 2009, at 18:53:35

In some sessions my T mirrors my gestures, sits the way I sit and even uses the same language and tone of voice I use.. this doesnt happen often at all.. still I wonder what does that mean?
Is she trying to relate to me in that way? Is there more to it?

No, but I think he leads me.

I think he deliberately sits in a relaxed posture when I'm upset.

Or leans forward when I'm disengaged.

yes, I have noticed that...but I don't know how often it happens while I'm not noticing

I'm not sure what it means, I thought it was interesting though

Mine used to and I never knew what it meant. I like to avoid eye contact and he would do the same thing as me. It was very weird. Very weird.

Hi Tetrix,

My T does it less than she used to. I am known for tightly crossing my arms and legs in therapy and when I do it she does it. Complete with my glare. Then she says you don't have to protect yourself.

I think she's trying to relate to that I am uncomfortable and get me to relax and not cross myself.
