hey,
so my therapist when overseas and when she came back she had bought me something. we both love history and talk about it and it was related to that. has anyone's therapist's ever done this? she often extends my sessions to a lot longer also.

I may have heard of it when a therapist was gone for a long time, like maybe they were pointing out that they had kept their clients in mind when they were away?
My therapist accepts presents but he doesn't give them.
If you are wondering, maybe you could ask?
My therapist never goes over by a minute. Well, maybe once or twice in all these years, because it suited him. I think he's more careful on this point than most therapists, though.

awww yay that's great to hear and it made me happy to see your post :) were you surpised by her giving you the gift? did she write a card too? that must have made you feel so special knowing she thought of you and wanted to share something with her like this. i'm inspired now by your story relating a positive therapy relationship outcome and hope everytime you see the gift you'll remember there is a person out there who knows the "real you' and despite whatever faults, accepts those things and cares about you:)

Wow blahblahblah, I'm jealous of you on both counts -- the present and the extra time!
