More medical drama

Posted by TherapyGirl on April 29, 2009, at 17:04:43

Now I'm being tested for MRSA due to some skin infections caused by the thyroid cr*p.

My thyroid is still pretty out of whack. AND now I'm in full-blown menopause.

And my T is still leaving me.

On the bright side, I'm going to have Sunkist the beagle come stay with me two weeks from Friday and see how it goes for both of us.

Gee, nothing like feeling that you're being piled upon. :)

You are amazing. Any one of those changes can be life altering on its own, and here you are, making your way through it all. You have strength that sometimes I think you don't see. I'm not minimizing what you're going thorugh at all, I'm just trying to say that you're inspirational and I thank you for that.

I agree with antigua. None of this is fair. But you are showing incredible strength throughout all of this.

Medically, I bet you will be ok. That might sound minimizing, but you are being tested, there are professionals managing your case, and they will take care of you, even if it is scary now when you don't know what will happen. That's their job. Try to have faith in that.

Please post us a picture of Sunkist when she gets to her new home :) I think there is a rightness to what is ending for you now and what is beginning. And of course babble is here for you.

Sunkist! What an adorable name. :) That's a big positive coming up. I don't know what I'd do without my guys.

I'm sorry you're still having to deal with fallout from the thyroid. At least you've got a good doctor now.

I must be missing something as did you have thyroid surgery to contract MRSA? Other than that menopause is easier on bioidentical hormones as they have changed since that women's study. Just went back on them based on blood testing. Google www.carolinahealthspan.com. My Doc. Love Phillipa ps he wrote a book " The Youth Effect." no idea if these double quotes will work but at least tried. And sunkist is a lovely name what type of pup?

Here's the link to Sunkist's (Bayleigh's) adoption page:

I haven't ever posted a link before, so I hope that works. I don't know why they have her listed as a Terrier mix -- we have all agreed she's part Beagle.

Oh, I love her smile in that pic ;)

She doesn't look like a terrier to me. Maybe lab/beagle?

Congratulations on your new addition :)

Yeah, I have no idea why they have her listed as a terrier. She's obviously Beagle with something else mixed in. The father of the puppies was a small black lab.

She's adorable. She's got a terrific expression.

I can see where they might consider terrier to be part of her makeup. Does she have some of that terrier guard hair maybe along the saddle on her back? If there's any hint of wiry hair, they assume terrier. But definitely she looks more beagle than terrier to me.

My first dog ever was a cocker-terrier mix. We picked her out of a litter of puppies who varied widely in looks, but she looked pure spaniel and acted pure spaniel. The sweetest dog in the world. At the time I had a real phobia about dogs, because of a bad experience with my great-aunt's boxer. That tiny puppy sat quietly on the end of a lead for hours as I slowly approached her, reached out a hand, and ran screaming away. She had the patience of a saint. She dug like a terrier though. :)

The important thing is if she fits your life and your home. I think well of her adoption agency that they're giving you a trial period with her. Match is sooo important.

Ah, the digging -- that's why they called her a terrier. And she does have coarse hair.

She was digging in the ground outside last week when I met her -- making a place to take a nap in the sun.

I'm so sorry, Phillipa. Somehow I missed your post.

I did not have thyroid surgery, but because my thyroid was allowed to get so far out of control, my skin has been breaking down for months. All of those little breaks have given bacteria an easy way in, which is what is now causing the skin infection (and possibly MRSA). I still haven't gotten any test results yet, but should hear something tomorrow.

My baby is apparently a Beagle/terrier mix (thanks, Dinah!). Less than 2 weeks until she comes home with me.

Theraphy Girl have read there are two kinds of MRSA one from outside a hospital not as severe and the other from hospitals where it is more severe. Sure hope your's is community acquired. Love Phillipa
