My t gives me an hour and a half (used to go for 2 even 3 hours!)....
He said he didn't want to be "rigid" with me.....
Hugs, Sassy

50-55 minutes. Sometimes I wish I could do a session and a half because it always takes me so darned long to "warm up."

Exactly the same. Technically I get 50 mins, but there's always a little time at the end that goes over. Wish I had more, too.

a very strong boundaried 50 mins max.
she often peruses quickly my emails B4 she gets me, so more like 45-50 mins, incl paying, greeting, warm up, cool down.
'Cept thing of the matter is I usu dying to lv round 40-45 mins....
dunno if thats cuz the times bout up and that bugs me, or cuz I just 'done'. I think many times I just 'done'.
I no longer focussed. Sometimes I worry bout times up.
I try not to look at clock.

45 minutes - occasionally 50 minutes. 45 seems to be a standard session length over here. 1 patient per hour and 15 minutes break between. I see him twice a week, sometimes thrice.

the sessions are 55-60 minutes most times..... if she doesn't have someone right after me, it goes sometimes for 70 or 75 minutes. but then, I only see her twice a month, once every other week..... I can't afford to pay for more than that.

Hi Sassy,
My T gives a full hour, longer if she can and if I need it. I like a flexible, T, too.

Like you, my t's sessions are 45 minutes, which is standard in my area too. I'm jealous of everyone's extra 5 - 10 minutes!! I wonder how that happens.

Do you pay for the extra time? Or do you pay for 1 hour and get 2 or 3???

Yes, I agree. A 50 or 55 minute session would be nicer. My T once said that in France nowadays the standard session length is just 30 minutes - that to me is far too short.

I'm actually glad (for the most part) that my T does keep to a firm time-schedule. It keeps things predictable and running on time - I like to know where I stand. There was a session once where I felt he should have been flexible with the ending time because I was very upset - that's the one time when, well, I wished it were different. There was also a time once when there was a distraction - he needed to leave the room a couple of times and take a phone call and he was clearly agitated - he then, after all that, ended the session a few minutes early which was the last straw for me - I stood up, looked at my watch pointedly and left. The reason for the agitation - he had employed a cleaner and she had lost her way finding his house, even though she had been there the week before - and he found that stupid and was annoyed, and his wife had to go out to try and find her.
I just wonder how a T could keep going for 2... 3 hours - stamina-wise - how could he keep it together and remain professional seeing someone so intensely for so long? I think that could be very tiring for patient and therapist.

I've never heard of a t giving any one any time. They sell it, they don't give it. Cecilia

My t gives me the whole hour. I usually am running about five minutes late. Not sure why because I look forward to my sessions.

Fifty minutes tops. He tries to catch up time on me when I let him.
But he has many fine and useful qualities, so I forgive him this one, and just keep an eye on the clock myself.
This is the end of the thread.
