I've been trying to get better at this inner child stuff. At home I've been using a stuffed animal and trying to learn to direct comfort and love toward it when I'm sad. In session today we did one of our visualizations where she takes me back to meet my child self, and it was different this time. I can actually feel love and empathy for the sad little girl! Up til now I could only connect with the happy little girl.
Now that I learned to do it, I can't understand why it was so hard before. It feels much better to comfort her than to try to keep her distant and out of awareness.
It seems like if I can do this, I can get through anything life may bring. I just use my adult part to comfort my scared, sad, or lonely parts.
It's some kind of small miracle. My T said I've turned a corner.

I am so happy for you! You've been working so hard on this, and now you've found that connection, one that can help you to heal yourself.
I understand all the feelings you've described and I wish you continued luck.

Wow Wow Wow Wow Wow
I am SO very happy for you!
I find non-dominant-hand writing great for this.Get some colourful markers & a notebook, put a marker in your left hand (if you're righthanded) or right hand if you're lefthanded.
Then invite your little kid to draw (or "drawr" as my Little Kid will print)
Or let her choose the colour. I have had totally amazing results.
Feel free to ask me for examples or to babblemail me.
My Little Girl does amazing pictures SO cute & spels rong etc.
I've done some wonderful self-healing this way....even about abuse issues!
Love, Kath

Thanks! It does seem like a chance to heal a lot of old pain. She was a lonely sad little girl for a long time.
This is the end of the thread.
