Stanly Kamel/ Dr. Kroger died :(

Posted by Dinah on April 11, 2008, at 7:19:33

He's the TV therapist who reminded me most of mine, and I've said so so often that I'm having some superstitious fears.

:(

I wonder how they'll handle it on Monk. If they handle it realistically it would derail the entire next season, so I suppose they won't.

To make matters worse, my therapist is under a lot of stress from something in his "other" (non therapist/mommy) life, and I was already afraid that he might not be his best. Now those signs of age that just made him seem so vulnerable now are making me worry about his vulnerability. :(

Stupid, I know. Another sign of my magical thinking my therapist would say.

NOOOO - that is so sad. I've been away all day from my computer.

I bet they don't do much with it this summer but next season will. Poor Monk.

Remember when Monk thought he had stole that granola bar from the store? and he said he carried them with him all the time.

ANd then monk didn't believe him, and, even though he said he wouldn't, he pulled one out of his pocket to make monk feel better?

I loved him.

How sad.

I've been watching a heavy dose of Monk lately. He will be missed. The day after he died they aired a show on Mr. Monk gets a new therapist. It really showcased Kamel.

I guess Monk could have a crisis of sorts and then try out several new doctors. Just last week Monk make the leap to NBC....

Hi Dinah,

I was bummed when I saw that Stanley Kamel had died. I, too, wonder how they will handle it on Monk. I suppose they could do the old soap opera trick of just substituting a new actor and calling him Dr. Kroger. Though I really did like the actor who played him. Rest in peace Mr. Kamel.

My therapist was very sweet about it.

Of course, I spent the entire hour sobbing great torrents of tears about my job. Who knew crying for an hour could be so helpful?

So he might not have wanted to challenge my thinking.

I still want to bring in that episode where Dr. Kroger temporarily quits. It's my very favorite, but I'm afraid it might scare my therapist, since Mr. Monk more or less stalks him.

I've been running a personal marathon. My husband and I have the season sets of Monk, since it's one of the rare shows we both thoroughly enjoy. I saw the one with the granola bar. :) My personal favorite is the one with the garbage strike, where he's sitting there perfectly calmly as bag after bag of garbage fall into the atrium beyond the window.

Looking at them one after another, I guess he's not *that* much like my therapist. But they've both got superstrong boundaries, are almost entirely unflappable, and are very dapper.

Dinah where is the best place to buy the dvd's? I've never seen them. Also which seasons do you recommend most. I've become totally addicted to Monk in the last few months. I had never watched it before.

Is there a best of dvd or is it all just by season?

I think it's all by season, but you can also download episodes on iTunes (or at least you used to be able to) and Amazon, I think. And maybe at USA Network?

I order the sets from Amazon. They often have good sales on DVD sets.

That's great, Midnight! I know you'll enjoy them.

Amazon does have great deals sometimes. When I can muster my self control to wait for them, it really pays off.
