hi all,
the one therapy session I got in the hospital suggested that I engage in a course of self-directed DBT/CBT skills training. I am currently being seen by a T who is eclectic and is willing to work with me on skills, which would be good, since I feel like going over the trauma history is getting a bit repetitive.any books to recommend?

I have one or two geared towards anxiety. But I like the original best.

I think there is a website that you can download some DBT stuff. There is also 2 books involved I think.
I got kids at home so I can't look it up right now.
I was reading my T's handbook bout it(she lent it to me) and DBT was meant to be used ideally in a 'program'.
I did go to a DBT module group with our local mental health. It was OK.(sigh I 'failed' the anxiety module!!) My T been making noises that she wants me to try again....
There are certainly alot of handouts and sheets you can work thru.
I didn't do the DBT with my t cuz I don't think she or I have the 'stick to it ness' thats proly needed to do it properly.
Besides, it would require more sessions, more money.
I think DBT sounds great, but it is rarely carried off fully in the way Linehan originally intended it to be.
Yup, mebbe I'll try it again.
good to 'see' you LL.
