I just read an article in the paper about a psychologist, an expert witness in child custody cases, clinical assistant professor at a large university, former president of the American Board of Forensic Psychology, arrested after a videotape of a woman using his office bathroom was found in his VCR. And we're the sick ones? Cecilia

Do you have the link by any chance, or the name of the paper?
Wow. Just goes to show that shining academic and credentials do not make for a good psychologist. It's stuff like that that gives the good ones in the field a bad name....ugh!

I'm sure that's true of any profession. And certainly people can be drawn to the helping professions by bad motives as well as altruistic ones.

As a forensic psychologist, I know the forensic psychologist in question. I have taken workshops from him. I have not read eveything about the situation at this point but would caution that he has been "accused" not convicted as of yet. This is an important issue to consider. So, I will reserve judgment at this time.

This having been said, I recently evaluated a psychologist who was arrested and later convicted of a felony sex type offense. He still has his license in the state he practices in; he just can't work with children. I believe from what I have heard that finally after one year the licensing board in his state (not my state) is looking at removing his license or at least suspending it for a period of time
