songs about therapy?

Posted by sunnydays on June 15, 2007, at 10:14:47

I noticed someone in Daisy's thread above mentioned a song about therapy. Anyone know of any more? I can get lots of free music through my school's download service and I'd love to listen to some other songs too, if there are any.

This is the song that reminds me of an ideal therapy. I had it as a ring tone on my phone for when my T calls me. But she thought I was going overboard and told me no one is there for any of us ALL the time. It hurt, but I still like the song a lot because it feels like the way I'd like her to think about me.

ANYTIME YOU NEED A FRIEND
Mariah Carey

If you're lonely
And need a friend
And troubles seem like
They never end
Just remember to keep the faith
And love will be there to light the way

Anytime you need a friend
I will be here
You'll never be alone again
So don't you fear
Even if you're miles away
I'm by your side
So don't you ever be lonely
Love will make it alright

When the shadows are closing in
And your spirit diminishing
Just remember you're not alone
And love will be there
To guide you home

If you just believe in me
I will love you endlessly
Take my hand
Take me into your heart
I'll be there forever baby
I won't let go
I'll never let go

Anytime you need a friend
I will be here
You'll never be alone again
So don't you fear
Even if you're miles away
I'm by your side
So don't you ever be lonely
It's alright
It's alright

For me this song defines therapy.

Alanis Morissette - You Owe Me Nothing In Return Lyrics

I'll give you countless amounts of out right
Acceptance if you want it.
I'll give you
Encouragement to choose the path you want if you need it.

You can speak of anger and doubts,
Your fears and freak-outs and I'll hold it.
You can share your so-called
Shame filled accounts of times in your life and I won't judge it.

And there are no strings attached,
You owe me nothing for giving the love that I give.
You owe me nothing for caring the way that I have.
I give you thanks for receiving, it's my privilege,
And you owe me nothing in return.

You can ask for space for yourself
And only yourself and I'll grant it.
You can ask for freedom as well
Or time to travel and you'll have it.

You can ask to live by yourself
Or love someone else and I'll support it.
You can ask for anything you want
Anything at all and I'll understand it.

I bet you're wondering when
The next payback you'll eventually drop.
I bet you're wondering when my conditions or policies will force you to cough up.
I bet you're wondering how far you now have danced moved back into debt.

This is the only kind of love
As I understand it that there really is.
You can express your deepest of truths
Even if it means I'll lose you and I'll hear it.

You can fall into the abyss
On the way to your bliss
And I'll empathize with it.
You can say that you'll have to skip town
To chase your passion and I'll hear it.
You can leave and hit rock bottom have a mid-life crisis and I'll hold it.

This is the end of the thread.
