I am getting a second opinion with a new pdoc tomorrow on my med treatment. Apparently the guy is very conservative so I am apprehensive to hear what he wants to do. Maybe he'll stop all meds and just say I need to
a) quit drinking
b) quit smoking
c) take multivitamin daily
d) eat healthy diet
e) exercise daily
f) focus on family
g) focus on work
h) continue sessions with TOh no. I hope not.

I hope not, too. But if he's a pdoc, then even if he's really conservative, he must understand that meds can sometimes be really helpful. And if he does recommend some medications, then maybe that will reinforce even more that meds are justified for you.
Let us know what happens.

Stopping drinking can make a real change. I have a friend who hasn't had a drink in 11 months and it has made an enormous change in her life. I am amazed by how much she has changed.
No matter what else the pdoc recommends, I would strongly recommend that you quit drinking and go to AA.

Well curt,
The best that you can do is be honest, and know what YOUR priorities are- what you hope to get out of this appt. What you need help with, what you are hoping to change. Make him listen to you, and make a list, if you're worried you might leave something out.Let the pdoc make his suggestions, and then ask him why and listen. Don't resist listening. If you listen well, then you can ask better questions.
Hope things go well with the new pdoc. By the way, why are you resistant to making those changes? Seeing T, healthy lifestyle, vitamins? Those aren't SOOO painful are they? Don't you want to be strong, productive, and have energy to play with the kids and do your projects?
Cigarettes and Alcohol are dependencies that you could easily maintain until you die or are in the hospital. It's your life-- when you're ready to change these dependencies, your life will belong to CURT, and will no longer belong to the beer in the fridge, or the cigarette hiding above the doorframe.
But it's your life. If the pdoc tells you what you don't want to hear, are you still going to listen?
Anyways, best of luck- don't be nervous. You're going to do just fine. You come in the spirit of recognizing that you need help, and that's the biggest step of all. Good for you-

Hi Curt,
You forgot to add create world peace and solve the oil crisis. Oh, and if that's my list, stop being sarcastic to your pdoc and T.
I hope pdoc2 listens to your concerns about meds. Ex pdoc was prescribing way too much Effexor XR for me, Dr. Clueless caught that right away, and she's usually, well, clueless.
Good luck. Report back to us.

Good luck, curtm.
So, you didn't take your meds? is that so you can be as bad as you wanna be?
I hope all goes well--
