I have a wacky idea about overcoming chore avoidance. The fundametnal reason I don't do chores is there's always something more fun to do. For instance I'd rather go out for coffee than tackle that pile of paperwork on the table. So... if I can just trick my brain somehow into thinking those chores are really fun. Really fun and satisfying, better than sex or chocolate ice cream or anything. Or maybe just more fun than going out for coffee. If I could do that, I could get my whole life in order. If I could make plowing through paperwork fun, and going on job interviews fun, and calling up the gardener fun, and taking the car to the shop fun, and all those things fun, I could do everything I want to do in life.
Surely I can somehow trick my brain into enjoying those chores. If I just had that one skill, I could do everything.

You mean chores aren't fun?? I thought "chores" came from "chor-us" the latin word for sing.

Perhaps you could reward yourself somehow. Something like, "When I get through 1/3 of this paperwork, I can have a cookie. When I get through 2/3, I can have some cake, and when I finish the paperwork, I can have some ice cream!"
Yay! remember Willy Wonka land? where you could eat anything because it was candy?

Curt's on the right track. Another thing that might help, is to put on a great cd or radio station while you work.
Then you kind of have background music that makes you feel good-- and also cake (preferably Vitamin S or (Vitamin Schokolade (Chocolate))--or I found this fabulous carrot cake here in Vermont, so good, yummmm I'd almost do chores to get some) to look forward to.
Or you could make some coffee and get a piece of cake to get you going, kind of a lead-in, or accompaniment. A few bills, some more coffee and cake, a few more bills, etc.
Works for me lots--though you have to be careful about not eating too much cake.
