I have had a tough 2-3 months--anxiety/depression/intrusive thoughts and have decided that wishes and hopes are not going to do the job. Presently on meds and trying to locate a good CBT therapist in the Ann Arbor/Detroit areaa. It has been particularly tough as I am/was the Exec of the two largest mental health agencies in the community in which I live. Fortunately I have located an excellent psychopharmacologist (Ph.D. + MD who works for me) but having more difficulty with a therapist. I live about 45 miles from Ann Arbor/Detroit so that is where I am looking. If you know, or can direct me to any particularly good resources on CBT and anxiety/depression and possible OCD it would be appreciated. I am quite diligent about following through. Have had recurring eprisodes for 30 +/- years but this is the most difficult. Currently on Lexapro and Wellbutrin (6 weeks) and very low dose clonazepam (as needed). Really need to do something with my catastrophizing and cognitive reaction to thoughts. Thanks FCA

It sounds like my therapist in Ann Arbor would be an excellent match. She does CBT and I believe has a special interest in OCD. You can find her phone number (as well as other therapist contacts) here: http://www.mhweb.org/directory3.htm Her name is Laura Nisenson. I don't know whether she is accepting new patients right now but if she isn't I think she could help refer to someone who can meet your needs.
Good luck!

Hi FCA,
Welcome to Babble. My T is listed on Psychology Today's website, so I think it's a good source. I'm not in Ann Arbor, but am bored to tears at work, so I found you a link to the therapists in the Ann Arbor area. http://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/prof_results.php
The Ts have bios and information as to what kind of therapy they do.
I'm on Effexor XR, Seroquel to sleep and Clonazepam as needed. Been in therapy for 3 1/2 years.
Glad you found babble. You'll like it here.
