Videos

I mentioned to my therapist about copying the video tapes, and asked if he'd like me to bring a tape of my favorite dog with me. He was quite enthusiastic and suggested that I bring in a few of me as a little girl as well.

I'll make a really really short excerpt tape so that I won't bore him senseless. But I'm still sort of embarassed. I was a quirky little girl and that comes across in the videos. And when I spoke to my favorite dog, I did it in a high tone that seemed designed to split eardrums. Maybe I'll cut out the sound.

Still, I'm looking forward to sharing a few of my favorite people and places with him.

He also called me yesterday to tell me he wouldn't be able to see me midweek this week. I thought that was awfully nice of him. He had warned me that he might not be able to arrange it, so I wasn't going to call him or worry about it if I didn't hear from him. He said he had realized it was Thursday and we hadn't touched base, and he wanted to check to see if I was ok. I guess he was afraid I'd tantrum like I did last time. :) He never does grasp context too well.

I doubt you were the only quirky little kid. All little kids have their things. I think it's so awesome that you'll be sharing some videos with your t. It sounds like fun!

But I definitely am going to cut out all footage of me dancing (or Seinfeld references are sure to follow). And delete the sound from the dog video.

I am sure you were a wonderful little girl. I would feel lucky that your parents thought you were cute enough to take video and pictures of you. Mine didn't, I barely have 20 photo of me growing up, and most of them are school pictures.
I am sure your T will love your video, even the parts you think aren't so great. ;-)

That's wonderful that you are going to share your videos :-) It's a wonderful way to get closer and more connected and share things that are important to you..

I made a video to my T last year, I even made a part of it with me and my cats and I was talking to them in "kitty language", which is very embarrassing :-) but i left it that way and she enjoyed it and found out about another part of me. I shared in it things that were important to me, my home, my safe places, my cats, my fish..

It's wonderful to share that way.
He'll love it and it will help you feel more connected too.

How great that you have videos of you as alittle girl too and that you'll share that.

Let us know how it goes..

Love,
Frida
