Making docs believe me - Sigh.

Posted by orchid on December 2, 2005, at 0:35:28

I have a very frustrating thing. I am in a hospital - not allopathic, but alternative medicine. And I want to get some medicine which are supposed to be very harmless for making me more happy.

And I have tried to explain this to many doctors here who just won't believe I have any issues with mental health. They just laugh as if I am saying a joke. Primarily I am here for my rheumatoid arthritis, but I thought if they have some treatment for making me more happy and cheerful, I can try that also, but nobody is believing I am depressed.

It has been an issue for me always. Even my first T refused to believe I was depressed for quite a long time. And my second T also dimssed me for quite some time. I suppose I smile a lot when I talk, and look cheerful, so I can't get to convince people of my issues. When I tell them I have terrifying nightmares, they just don't believe.

Any ideas? Maybe I should go and beat up people or act crazy to make people believe I am suffering :-)

The only thing I can think of? You have the WRONG t(s)....gee whiz! WHY don't they believe you. This makes NO SENSE.....I can understand "regular" doctor types, who hve no training in theapy, but

a T who doesn't believe you? This is too weird. They should be asking you questions, and thereby make a determination of your stuff, and then HELP you.

Wish I knew what to say about this, except keep talking to different t's (i know, that would be exhausting).....

Hugs, Ally

Actually they are not Ts. I wouldn't go to a new T anytime soon :-) They are actually practicing alternate medicine (Ayurveda if you have ever heard of it) But they are Drs nevertheless.

Anyway, maybe I should beat up one of the handsome DRs who come for checking me everyday to convince them of my illness. Otherwise they just come and ask the same old questions everyday and flirt a little and go away pretending to check up. :-)

It's hard when people don't believe you. I know how it feels. My best friend told me to act more how I feel to get people to believe me. Maybe it'll work for you??
