Imagine what it might be like

Posted by Susan47 on October 29, 2005, at 10:51:46

to be someone with a great amount of skill and knowledge, and unable to apply your knowledge and skill to your own self. Unable to see who you really are, until it's late .. but better late than never. But imagine the shock of the knowing. Imagine that. Seeing yourself as you never really have, before.
Imagine that.

***Susan, you've just described me over the past two years. The shock of seeing how scared and lonely I've been and of realizing what I've wanted all along -- to be seen and heard and loved. I never knew I wanted that.

I think we just can't see ourselves through the same lense we view others with. We miss in ourselves what we can clearly see others doing. And I think we give more easily to others.

I guess that is why we spend so much time trying to change others, instead of looking inward.

Wasn't it wonderful when you realized you deserved it, too? And then when you start generating that by seeing and hearing yourself, then the love for yourself comes naturally out of that, doesn't it? And it generates more love in your life.

Yes, but I found I didn't always give the best. Now I'm more capable of that.

You bet.
I've found the most amazing truth, and I don't know if it's real yet or not, maybe it's just a figment of my thinking and trying to understand things, but
the thing I've found lately, is that by changing myself and being my best, I don't have to feel frustrated into trying to change anybody else at all, because the fact is, that when I'm who I want to be, the people around me just seem to want to emulate that anyway. We're all still very much like children inside, I think. We're easily led by strength, whether it's good or bad .. so it's important to be good, I think.
