But it is love?

This is a good article about transference from The New Therapist magazine.

I don't know about this whole transference thing, but I know that I am mourning my old therapist (who left to get his doctorate) as much as I would mourn the loss of a true lover. I believe it was love, although we never had a relationship and it was completely one-sided.

It was interesting that this person thought that T's unconsciously encourage/add to transference in their patients.

What do you mean by the "same old story?" Do you mean that transference is always sort of a taboo subject?

Hi, No I do not think it is taboo. I think people THINK too much about it and keep rehashing it. Not only here, but other places too. terrics

Hmmm... Do people think too much about it? The difficulty for me is that it's hard to stop thinking about it unless I talk about it from time to time. Somehow talking about it (here or other places) seems to help. If I can talk about it, I feel less preoccupied with it. Maybe it's just me...

I feel the same way as Tamar, but then, transference is a subject that I am dealing with heavily since I fell in love with my T. It makes sense that I'm thinking of it a lot. And it really does help to know I'm not the only one who has dealt with this or been upset by the consequences.
