My last session

Posted by Angela2 on October 6, 2005, at 23:43:37

Once again, not a termination, just saying that my last session was last wednesday. We talked about risperdal because it has raised my prolactin levels which in turn has given me osteopenia (the stage before osteopotrosis) and I'm only 22. I think I should stop taking it, obviously. But the thing is, it;s working so well. I have to mkae some calls to some doctors and find out more info before I make my decision. It's gonna be soon though, cuz I do NOT want osteoporosis. I've been taking abilify to lower my prolactin and it's worked, but only a little. I keep forgetting to take it in teh morning though so my pdoc says that before I go off risperdal I should take abilify in the morning for a few weeks and see if it goes down anymore.

Eek, you scare me when you use that subject line! I'm glad you 'splain in the first sentence.

Sounds like you are able to talk about this stuff, which is good. Are you on anything for osteopenia? My hubby takes Fosamax...He also took the that begins with an "A" for awhile. I forget the name.

At any rate, his bone scans show good improvement.

Good luck in finding a workable solution. It's good you're on top of this.

Take care,

I am doing high impact exercises and taking lots of calcium. I hope it helps. What is Fosamax?

Those are good strategies. Fosamax is a medication that helps rebuild bone density. I think another one is Actonel.

My hubby takes his once a week, and he has to remain upright, either sitting or standing, for 30 minutes. I think this is because otherwise it causes stomach distress.
