thanks

I know this feeling well -- I'm sorry that you are experiencing it!!

There are a variety of techniques. Do you have a picture or message you can look at or listen to? You can call their answering machine, but the "I'm away" message might be upsetting.

One of my favorite things is to write about some of the things you like most about your therapist or a couple of your best moments in therapy. This tends to invoke those warm fuzzy feelings. But, it can make you miss them.

Distraction is the best thing for the missing them moments. Keep busy with stuff you like.

I had such a tough time the last time my therapist left. We talked about it and I told him I tried hard to distract myself from the missing him feelings. He said maybe I should have let myself feel those feelings, and to allow that I was sad about him being gone and this was OK. Perhaps fighting them off made them worse...but who knows?

Posting helps me...

I have a small picture of my therapist, and looking at, or holding, that picture helps me. Sometimes I pretend to have a conversation with him and imagine what he will say.

Feel free to come up to Camp Comfort while your therapist is gone!

I like to think of some of the things they said that I really liked.

Sometimes replaying conversations in my head sometimes making up new ones.
