Anyone map their system?

Posted by kerria on August 7, 2005, at 23:05:14

The first week or two after i met my T he asked me to "Map my system". i had absolutely no idea how i would ever do that and there was such a negativity inside against it. We yelled, "Do you think it's like there's a happy club inside where we trade places to help everybody?!!? i was so so upset that T even asked. That was five years ago- it took him five years to ask me again. T actually didn't really ask, even- just gave me some papers that were copied from some inpatient handbook for DID - the part about internal communication- and how to start to map your system.

It sounds so simple, "Just place them in groups according to their similarities or their ability to communicate with each other" - something like that. i don't know if i'm even ready yet- it feels like the most difficult thing that i could ever do. i don't want to write the names of parts or have them write their names. It's a naturally forbidden thing to do i think- it feels exactly like that, i don't know why. i'm used to things not making sense. i hope i can start it anyways.

Has anyone ever Mapped their system?
How did you start?
(the forbidden thing) did you ask your parts to write their own description of what they look like and what they like?

Any input is so appreciated.
Thanks so much,
kerria
