Therapy is going so well

Posted by crushedout on August 2, 2005, at 23:55:27

I'm getting so much out of therapy these days. It's too much to even write about. I just tried and I was just RAMBLING my behind off, so I stopped. I just wanted you guys to know that she's good. And I feel this huge potential for growth and understanding and it's very exciting.

I asked her this week if we could go to three times a week (from two). It's scary for me, but I want to keep the momentum going. It's so hard when you get into something and then you have to stop because the next session I end up having my mind on something else. I want to make the most of where we are. I think that's a good reason to increase, don't you?

Crushed I am so glad!!

I know just a short while back you weren't sure of her so it is nice to see such progress. Why do you think things have moved ahead?

I do think you've picked the best reason to increase sessions. I assume she said yes to your request? :)

Thank you for sharing. I feel hopeful with you.
Hugs from me,
Daisy

Well, I do think it helped that I told her about my frustration with how things were going and she took it in but clearly didn't take it personally. I'm not sure. Since that point, it's been good. I think I learned to trust that I could really tell her anything and that it wasn't going to mess things up with her. I can tell her I feel attracted to her, or that she annoys me, or whatever, and it won't affect her attitude toward me. It wasn't like that with the last one, you know.

Maybe that's why it's going well. Maybe it won't always go this well. But I feel optimistic.

She hasn't said yes yet. I asked her in a voicemail and she replied that we should talk about it when I see her (in another voicemail). But I think she'll say yes.

Do you remember how the last one used to lord the third session over me and torture me with it? Maybe not. I don't expect you to remember everything about my last bad T. :)

Thanks, Daisy.

HI Crushed -
It made me smile to see your post. I do remember writing to you last summer. You had so much pain about your therapist, conflicted feelings, etc.

I do think this is a positivie sign. You want to get closer to someone in a healthy relationship, albeit a theraputic one.

I go 3x per week and I really enjoy it. And it's been successful, as far as, deepening my trust level and my ability to open up that pandora's box of life's pain and disappointments.

I'm doing a happy dance for you! Hopefully she'll say yes. Let us know.

Annierose

That is great news! I remember all you went through with the last T. Good for you for trying with someone else, someone much better.

I am really glad for your CrushedOut. I also remember the intense problems you had with your ex therapist.

That's wonderful to hear, crushed! I bet it feels good. I hope she agrees to your request if she is able.

And I do remember about how that worked (or didn't work) with your last T. That's certainly NOT how someone should decide aobut treatment frequency.

(((crushed)))

Crushed,

I am so happy to see this subject line with your name after it!! You have worked hard to get to this point. Be proud of yourself!

I went from 2/week to 3/week. I told my therapist that I was always feeling like I didn't have enough time to talk about what needed to be talked about. He had also been thinking about 3/week and we were able to make the change. It calmed me down a lot - because now I do have the time I need. But just like 2/week is not weekly therapy twice a week, 3/week therapy is a different animal than 2/week therapy.

I'm sure that you and your therapist will be able to make the best decision for you. I'm so glad to hear you happy!
