We've had a lot of threads about Ts on vacation, which also included thoughts on how hard it can be to re-establish the connection after a break.
I wonder if any of you notice any change in your T after a vacation. Is he or she more energized? Do they come back with new ideas? Or just tanned and bright-eyed? Do they seem glad to be back at work?
As far as own therapist is concerned, he is very, very different the first week back from vacation. He spends practically the whole session pushed back in his chair with his arms crossed high on his chest. I get a lot of "based on blah blah theory, it is normal to expect yadda, yadda, yadda." It feels more like a press conference than a therapy session.
I have no idea why this happens because by the next week he's back to his emphatic ways. Does he forget his function over vacation? Does he decide he really hates being a therapist? I can't figure it out but I've been through enough vacations to know that this is the pattern.
Anyone else?

Well I can only speak of my experience of last week. It was his week back, he made me mad, and I quit. So maybe it is HIM. lol

Maybe it is a hard transition for them. I'm sure they are not the star attraction in their real lives like they are with us :)

I can't tell. There is too much difference in ME to tell how he's being objectively.

I think my T. is pretty consistant all the time. This is one of her strengths that I admire. In my mind I think she is more refreshed and rarin' to go.
Me, I'm just glad she's back and safe.

I don't know yet, but we'll find out July 11th! I just hope she comes back without a sunburn. She's fair-skinned (like me) and went to the beach.

It's funny that anxiety that something might happen to them.
I know that I always get nervous every time my therapist gets sick.

I'm glad I made you laugh :)
No, I haven't told him that although I would like to. The press conference is tomorrow so right now I'm just dreading it.

i didn't mean to make light of it. it sounds like it could be painful. but the way you put it was humorous.maybe you can address it during the press conference tomorrow and try to snap him out of it.
This is the end of the thread.
