that if my exhusband is a misogynist, as I believe he really is, and he's sarcastic and negative, and my therapist likes him, that therapist has elements of those traits in him, as well? Because, I believe that it does. It does follow. Very well.
I was reading Irvin Yalom last night, "Momma And the Meaning of Life" and the chapter on Myrna, Double Exposure, was fascinating. Because I know therapists have these feelings about their clients, but would never admit to it unless trapped into it. I say, Good for Myrna, and also, sheesh, the conceited *ssholes, it really didn't help to know how shallow some therapists really are. Unless forced out of it. And us, too, I can be really shallow. But I think I'm learning when that is, most of the time, now. But I used to see that look on my T's face, the one that said, oh yuck, what an idiot she is. Is she a moron, really? And the frustration, too. It's true to some extent that we pick up on their unconscious and unspoken feelings. It can be really hurtful.
This is the end of the thread.
