I know I did the right thing

Posted by crushedout on March 24, 2005, at 20:32:22

I haven't been around much lately -- lurking a little but mostly just too busy. But I've been meaning to post and let you all know how amazingly confident I now feel about my decision to change therapists almost five (!) months ago now. (I can't believe that much time has passed.)

I'm doing really well, but I'm also dealing with really difficult stuff in therapy. Stuff I was able to avoid when I was with my old T because my obsession with her clouded everything else out.

I really like my new therapist, I even feel attracted to her sometimes, but my attachment to her feels SO much healthier. I think about her occasionally, but I don't obsess about her constantly. She's an important part of my life but she's not my whole life. Therapy helps me and sometimes I look forward to it, but it's not what I live for -- it is helping me figure out what I want to be living for. I don't take this stuff for granted because it didn't use to be this way. I really appreciate having a healthy therapeutic relationship in my life.

Thanks to all of you who patiently helped me get to this point.

So glad to hear from you! I was wondering how it was going. And last you posted, you were dating 2 different woman ... when it rains, it pours. Glad to hear you are feeling more confident in your decision. I think you trusted your gut and it is rarely wrong.

I'm really, really glad things are working out for you. I know how hard the transition was.

For me it was a relief when I got past the hardest part of the transition and could say "This was a good decision".

Congrats!!!!!!!

Wow that was really cool Crushedout. I remember how you used to hurt with your old T. Glad it worked out well for you and you are in a much better position now.
