It's been a rough week. So many inconceivable tragedies people have to deal with. What an incredibly sad week, what a sad day; every day sad for so many who put their lives in service, give their lives so that ours can be better. Don't you think there's an easier way to earn a living? Do you think we do this for the money? Love us, as we do only the best we can in any given circumstance, given that we too are people, people who deal with more tragedy and dirt and blood and broken faces and broken bodies and broken Lives, than you can possibly imagine ...

I am watching the RCMP funeral for the four fallen Members on CBC Newsworld. Ian Tyson is singing "Four Strong Winds". I can see the little boy in the face of one of the fallen four. He was just a kid. He's wanted to be a police officer since first grade. He could've been my son.
There isn't a dry eye in the place.
