Has anyone had their mental health issue(s) documented as a psychiatric disability and received accomodations for it in work or school? In the US this is related to the Americans with Disabilities Act. I'm not sure what the equivalent is in other countries.
I ask b/c my pdoc recently suggested that I look into support and accomodations through my university's Students with Disabilities Office. She said that my depression was severe enough to qualify.
I'm wondering if anyone has done something like this. Was it helpful or did it just create more stigma? It would be helpful to hear about others' experiences.
