This was in the Connecticut 'News-Times' this morning. A psychotherapist named Chuck Berke of Fairfield made a doll, modeled after himself, that repeats Eliza-style lines like "How do you feel about that?" when you hold its hand. He sells them for $29.99 each.
There's a picture of the doll (and the real Chuck, for comparison) with the article at http://news.newstimes.com/story.php?id=67927&channel=Local . You can buy them at Target online.
Anybody know this guy? He says he wants to get people to stop being so hard on themselves.

The Dr Chuck doll really offends me. I've had a day to adjust to the idea and I like it even less now. I can't quite say why. I guess it's because it's FROM a therapist: it's like he's thumbing his nose at the whole idea of therapy.

I'd buy that immediately!! And Bob is way cuter than Chuck!
Note to Dr Bob: Please consider marketing this. It'd be a great fundraiser. (wink – LOL)

I would, but I don't know anything about dolls! :-)

I'm surprised Dr. Phil didn't come up with the first one ... a doll saying :
"how's that working for you?"
and if you hold the other hand it says :
"what were you thinking!?!?!"

Hmm. How about 'please be civil' and 'thanks!'.

Uhhh, maybe I'm very bad, but I *did* think it was quite funny. So there.
And btw, that doll is utterly creepy and I think if I had it physically near me I might lose control and smash it to bits or something. Especially if it moved or spoke.
I'm not known for beating on things or people. But I do have prior issues with the Chuckie movies, and that guy's website just really bugs me...{shiver}
