Sweetie,
I can't imagine anyone here hating you. I'm sorry you are having such a rough time. I read your post above, and that sounds really frightening. No wonder you can't sleep. Is there anything you like to do when you can't sleep? Read? Play a computer game? Surf the web? sigh, I tend to eat. Now this sounds grandmotherly, but a nice cup of tea might help. I drink something called "Sleepy Time" that is mostly chammomile. It helps relax me when I'm wound up. How about a nice warm bath?
And just breathe. Concentrate on the feel and sound of your breathe as it flows in and out. Think of nothing but the smooth and rhythmical flow of your breath. If your mind wanders away from your breathing, just bring your attention back and keep on going. This is a good exercise for anxiety and relaxation.
Take care, and please know that you are in my thoughts.

I'm late, but I hope your night was not too terrifying. I know all too well how the dark can bring on the fear and loneliness. I like gg's suggestions -- I hope you can use those. Take care of yourself today, OK?

underthecs
sorry missed your post. Insomnia is my biggest enemy. i've been fighting that harder than the depression and the mania i think. Believe me i've tried just about Everything out there.
the only thing i have figured out for sure is that different things work at different times. i do love sleepytime tea has hibiscus and chamomille(sp??), but drinking that then laying in bed journaling or reading sometimes helps (sometimes reading makes it worse.)one thing that does work almost all the time is i LOVE silent movies. TCM has silent movies on sunday nights starting about 11:00cst. the black and white, the starchy softness, the struggles yet simplicity of the films do something for me. actually sometimes i'm just very overstimulated by sound or color so maybe that's why they work for me.
otherwise please talk to your pdoc or mdoc about insomnia- my pdoc was/still is very worried about my lack of sleep. your body just can't continue functioning normally without enough sleep.
******
fyi, some of the reasons for my insomnia: they include body not being tired, mind not being tired, and emotional issues:-wired from daily stress
-hypo/manic episode
-depression
-afraid i'm going to miss something...strange feeling
-just plain afraid
-sometimes i have very horrible hypnogogic episodes and nightmares so being afraid of that.
-feeling like someones in "there" (even though my husband sleeps right next to me)
**and mostly....my secret...i fight it. i don't know why. i have NO idea why. sometimes it's none of the above and i even take good meds that can knock me out but i FIGHT it, i fight going to sleep with everything i have....i don't know why.SO
for whatever reason. know there are many remedies, you DO have options but don't let it continue. it will be too hard on your body.
One lasts suggestion is to exercise (earlier in the day) not just walking but do some weight lifting too (even if you get something from around the house to use) both for about 1/2 hour, make sure and get outside in the fresh air for at very least 1/2 hour. this does physically helps.here's to you getting dreams of peace and beauty.
