Has anyone heard of this / think it has any merit?
Sabrina
EFT is an ultra-modern complementary therapy but one that has its origins in ancient Chinese medicine. It works on the body’s energy systems, and was developed by an American called Gary Craig following the discovery that imbalances in your energy systems can have profound effects on personal psychology.http://www.emotional-freedom-techniques.com/index.html

My EMDR therapist also uses this and tried it on me. Unfortunately neither EFT nor EMDR had any effect on me, but since EMDR helps others, I'm sure EFT helps others as well.

My T does this -- he's really into it, and I know he uses it on himself. We really didn't spend a lot of time with it. I guess I thought it was a bit strange, and he picked up on that. I think it's advantage is that it's a way to self-soothe and gives you an active way to repeat affirmations.
I know Tabitha has had some experience with it too. BTW, where is Tabitha? I miss her.

Hey there, thanks for the mention. I'm still lurking, but not feeling like I have much to say.
My T used EFT stuff on me a few times. I didn't have any dramatic reaction to it. Personally I think it's placebo effect, but there's nothing wrong with that.

Hi Sabrina,
Like some of the others, my therapist is really into this and does it herself. I honestly think it was working for me, but I got into a funk of just refusing to believe anything could help me and I'm digging my way out. I am going to try it again, as well as guided imagery. I just have to motivate myself for some self help.
I say give it a try, it certainly doesn't hurt and it's easy to learn.
