A snail without its shell

probably feels exposed. Somewhere I wrote that I feel like a snail, then asked what does a snail feel like? Didn't know why I chose snail, but that's what I was reaching for. Today I totally exposed myself again. Curl up, blankets over, book in front.

Susan,
we are your friends here. It's OK to tell us stuff! :)

I hope you're feeling better and that it's a comfy blanket.

What book are you reading now? Have you read any good ones that you'd recommend? I'm looking for something new to read!

I used to compare myself to a pink slug. No protection from the world at all.

Wow, that's a really vivid visualization!

I'm sorry to hear you are feeling so sore. I also barricade myself behind the computer, book, newspaper or under a blanket, and know how awful it feels.

My metaphor for myself is the maggot - pale, soft, unprotected, feeding on rotten things. I don't think a snail sounds quite so bad - I know you are turning in on yourself at the moment, but it could turn the other way and shoot and sparkle outwards.

I love the vision of sparkling outwards. Unfortunately I don't seem able to be who I wanna be right now. I hope school helps. It starts soon. But then I have this really lousy manual job I can't keep doing and I'm actually having nightmares about it. If I described last night's nightmare I think it would be too huge of a trigger for someone so I'll keep it to myself but let's say it's best forgotten anyway.

If it gives you any hope, I'm relatively sure I've begun to build a bit of a shell to be safe in.
