My doctor just stopped by ECT treatments because I am having terrible memory problems. I don't really even remember why they started them. I am a medical transcriptionist (or I should say I was a medical transcriptionist, because I can't even begin to remember anything about my job - how to spell or what to do). I am still having terrible headaches every day since the treatments and no matter what I do they don't stop. I am beginning to think that I have made a big mistake. Did I?

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. It must be very frightening to forget so much, even why treatment decisions were made.
I don't know that much about ECT but I do know that it is never decided upon lightly. May I ask, were you really depressed?
Also, have you read, "Undercurrents"? It was written by a Therapist who battled depression, ultimately she used ECT to overcome it. I loved the writing, it said so much of how I feel these days.
I assume you have ongoing support. Have you told your Therapist you are questioning the decision? Maybe he/she can help you reconstruct the reasons you went down this road. I hope so.

Hi Cyndig, and welcome to Babble.
This site has a multitude of boards, which makes figuring out where to post quite confusing at times. But I think I remember that ECT is usually a (plain) Psycho-Babble topic, so I redirected your post there. You can follow the links at the top of this page, and see all the bewildering array of choices available here at Babble, or you can go directly to your post at:

Again welcome. And I apologize in advance if the correct destination for your post is the Alternative Board and Dr. Bob redirects it again. But I suppose the positive side of that is that you'd get a lot of different perspectives. :)
