I don't know, but that is a really good question. I wonder about that. I bet it would be hard to find any research on the subject though because of how unethical it is to date a client...much less admit you are in love with them.

I think you have a right to be upset. If he keeps discharging you and then asking you back to therapy, there's something up with him. Ask him straight out what's going on.
I think it is entirely possible about him having counter-transferrence.

A lot of people on this board are. Apparently, after reading all these articles, it looks like it is a normal part of therapy. I haven't really experienced it in a bad way yet. I just want my psychiatrist to be my daddy... But I'm not in love with him, just with the idea of him caring for me like a daughter.

If it isn't transference, what else might it be?

Hmm, it could be, but it's liklier to be transference though. Did you like him *before* you got to know him? I mean were you attracted to him upon seeing him before you guys spoke to eachother? If that is the case you probably do have a regular old crush and might want to think about getting a new therapist. Either way, you need to ask him whats with his terminating you and then asking you back. Good luck and let me know what happens. God bless.
