I did speak to Psychologist..

Posted by NikkiT2 on October 23, 2003, at 8:06:23

I did my very best at opening up to her, and she sat there and listened.. and then opened her book on CBT for self esteem and said we had better get on with that as if I had more self esteem this wouldn't be so important to me!!!

Oh well!

Nikki

OMG! A by the book therapist. A manuals therapist.

Oh, Nikki, I'm sorry. It stinks that you don't have any choice in therapists. :(

Hi Nikki,
I am really sorry your therapist didn´t truly hear what you were saying..
I wish you could find another therapist...is there anyway you could afford private practice?
This is soo frustrating, you did your best trying to open up..

sending you support,
adia.

Nikki, I'm sorry to hear this--after all the waiting you've done for a therapist, and I know you liked your previous therapist who left the job.

How very sad and frightening...

I'm not sure what I would do in that situation. Right now I'm resisting even the mention of my T bringing out the DBT skills manual. I don't know why, but I do think I would be offended. As if we could all be taught by the book...

What are your plans for dealing with this?
