I was so sure I was once again going to be rejected when I posted, I didn't worry about what I was saying. It was getting hard not to take it personally after the last few days of trying.

Anyway, I'm on my 6th day of lowering my dose of Effexor. I take 75 mg XR daily and I want to come to ttc #2 babe. I thought I was doing real well, but today is a different story. I've got that familiar feeling where it's like I've been crying but I haven't, I feel melancholy, and exhausted.

It was so nice to find this board, almost every post I read about effexor struck something in me. I was thinking "hey me too" while reading.

Nice to meet everybody!

Fenny

I'm glad you're here. A lot of us have experienced Effexor withdrawal, and it can take weeks (even months for some people) to get off of it without experiencing wild histamine-system rebound and flu-like symptoms.

My advice is to take it very, very slowly. Let your body set the goal for timing, not your mind. By the time I finally was able to discontinue it, I was down to "chipping" tiny fragments for a long time.

Effexor can be (and for me, is) a life-saver when other anti-depressants haven't worked, but when it's time to come off of it, some of us experience a lot of difficulty. It's important to know that you are not alone in this.

Welcome to PPB! Here we mostly talk about therapies and our experience with them. Usually, Effexor discussions will get the most informed responses on the main Psycho-Babble board, so if what you seek is more support for your withdrawal experiences, you might want to post there as well.

With kind regards,

Mark H.
