Radical Honesty?

Has anyone read the books listed on this site or know anything about the author and his theories?

Hi Mist,

I read the website and I don't know it you remember EST, but it sort of had the same ring for me: going through a program where you "learn" whatever
their essential system of honesty is, then you are able to go to exclusive social meetings (exclusive in the sense that only those who went through their program can attend.)

I'm not sure about "complete" honesty in general. Especially when it costs MONEY. Anyway, I'm sure they have their own system of what honestly means, how you learn out to do it, then practise with a group of people who have also learned it in the same way. But what good does it do to practise it with other people who also know the same "system". That's not who you come up against (with) in life.

So , I am making totally critical assumptions based on nothing but a website that I scanned. And I am completely rambling. But your lonely post prompted me to go to the website and take a look.

Does this site interest you? Know anyone that is involved?

Hi Shelli,

I just found the name intriguing and briefly skimmed over the first page on the site. I don't know anything about it. Your take on it is interesting! I might look into it more, simply out of curiosity (although that isn't too great at the moment, frankly :-)). It doesn't sound appealing to me. Anything cultish (like EST) gives me the creeps.

YO Mist,

your post got me back on the board for a sec, here.
If I were to join a "cult" this one would be it for me, but i am not a cultist, tho it can be fun to pretend.
Not only do i read and practice and have a link to my website on this business, the day i got the book i sat down and re-wrote it line for line, in order to make it sink in.
the doc behind it is so no bullshit he won't let you take his dogma as the truth, tho i believe it is the truth.
he goes, yah, so you think you found the answer here huh c**cksucker (this is how he talks, no kidding), what do you think you're gonna say tomorrow, but aww, that radical honesty stuff isn't the answer, i thought it was but it's not....
i like that, his insight is incredible, and my favorite saying of his is
the mind is a bullshit machine.
radhon has changed my life more in the last 20 years than anything else, but my boyfriend of course, who, when we fight, work it out, b/c i hold fast to the radhon methods to get us through it.
it's nice to lead when you know what you're doing.

love, trouble

Thanks, trouble.

I had decided to check out the book anyway, so I have it on my list of things to read. I'm still intrigued by it after all!

Good to know your take on it. It's not easy to tell from the web site what it's about.

hi mist.
yeah, it's an eye-opener, but Dr. Blanton's joyfully bilious prose style may be hard to take for some, if so, i'll recmd one more, this is written in a much more conciliatory and feminine style, and she is one of his minions, so it's basically his rap in a prettier wrap (sorry).

GETTING REAL
10 TRUTH SKILLS YOU NEED TO LIVE AN AUTHENTIC LIFE

SUSAN CAMPBELL, PH.D

Basically it's about identifying neurosis in oneself, its source (the mind, control, need for certainty, unwillingness to accept reality, how principles interfere with all of it, etc)
and mostly about how to get and maintain intimacy, how to fight, without bad faith, or harming the relationship.

when i follow these guides in tense situations everyone ends up feeling empowered and respected. i am inclined to master this method, wow, guess that makes me a disciple (laughs), sorry if proseletyzing!

I'll check out the Campbell book too. Thanks again (nm) » trouble
